Job Description

A full-time Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) teacher position is available for the 2025-2026 school year in Irving, TX, serving a K-12 student population. This itinerant role supports seven intermediate schools by providing specialized pull-out services to students with hearing impairments. The contract position begins as soon as possible, with a tentative start date of June 11, 2026, and is onsite only.

Key responsibilities include delivering direct instruction tailored to students needs, training students on their assistive hearing equipment, advocating for appropriate accommodations, and collaborating with general education teachers to ensure effective implementation of modifications. The teacher will also participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, contribute to evaluations, and support Individualized Education Program (IEP) development to secure necessary services. From November through March, this role will provide full-time coverage for an elementary campus DHH position during a maternity leave absence.

Qualifications and desired experience:

  • Valid Texas teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Skilled in managing assistive technology and hearing devices
  • Strong knowledge of legal accommodations and advocacy for students with hearing impairments
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
