Job Description

A Philadelphia-based elementary school is seeking a dedicated Reading Specialist to support students throughout the academic year. This contract position focuses on enhancing literacy skills and fostering a love for reading among young learners in a dynamic educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess students reading abilities to identify strengths and areas for improvement
• Develop and implement targeted reading interventions and instructional strategies
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align reading programs and support differentiated learning
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly
• Provide guidance and resources to parents and staff to reinforce reading development at home and in the classroom

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven expertise as a Reading Specialist or literacy educator, preferably in an elementary school setting
• Strong knowledge of reading assessment tools and intervention methods
• Ability to create engaging and individualized learning experiences for diverse student populations
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers, students, and families
• Certification or qualifications relevant to literacy instruction are highly desirable
